Absolutely horrifying account of the stoning of an Iranian woman accused by her unfaithful and abusive husband of being unfaithful (a harlot and a slut). I just can't even get into the awful way this poor woman was treated by not only her husband but by her father, her sons and her whole village, it's enough to make me physically sick to my stomach. A quick read but not an easy one. I almost wish I hadn't read it, this ones going to affect my heart for a long time.
a brutal story, hard to read at times - I don't want to read it again, which is unusual with books that really affect me in a strong way. I want to pass this book along because I feel it is very important that people know that a nightmare such as what happened to this woman is still happening in the world today.
I didn't read the book but I saw the movie and I feel like I needed to make it known how powerful this story is. If you're not going to read the book, at least see this movie.
Soraya's "husband" if you can even call him one, is plotting against her all because he feels like she doesn't act like a wife should. He decides that he wants to marry a fourteen year girl instead and divorce her, because she's not acting the way he thinks she should.
I don't like giving to much infortmation away, so I'm going to stop there. But trust me, this movie is completely moving and powerful on so many levels.
"Stoning" is the most disgusting form of torture that I have ever seen & it made me want to throw up, watching that take place. All because a man didn't get what he wanted, so he plotted against his wife. This just goes to show you how men in that country seem to think. It makes me sick.
