It's impossible not to think of Amazon, when reading this book. Think 'Amazon on steroids' and Amazon turning into Big Brother. Enjoyed it immensely. The climax is so twisty that I had to read it twice.

I could not review this on Amazon -just didn't seem right. Like most Patterson novels, it is not a work of art or literary genius. It is somewhat predictable and if you have had more than one cup of coffee while reading it, you may figure out the ending before reading it.

On the other hand, if you have been wondering, worrying and stressing over the possible impact of an online colossus on the retail economy of the US, you might not sleep well after reading this.

I was young when I read 1984 and it has colored by perceptions ever since. This book isn't of that caliber, but it does paint a not too cheery picture of a world dominated by an online giant, drones delivering packages and take out meals all the while turning the bricks and mortar economy into an economic disaster.

Buy Local, Support Small Business or this might be your world.

The one thing he doesn't mention are that shopping malls will become homeless shelters for the people who used to work there if we don't make it easier for small businesses to compete with the biggest online retailer in the world. Someone needs to say "enough", as in "we are big enough, no need to be bigger", something no capitalist said, ever. Not that I don't like capitalism, because I am a fan, but I also know how hard it is to compete with a gigantic company that owns all the 'suppliers' in its supply chain.

So support your local bookstore and look for alternative means of sells your own goods and services instead of signing on with the Big A.

Strange book for Patterson. Seems like a version of "1984" , Big Brother is Watching. On a scale of 1 to 10 for a Patterson book it will get a 6.

This was an interesting quick read, surely not great literature, but creepy, sinister and scary enough, that it can really happen!

I can't give a lot of praise for this book because I don't think Patterson wrote it, however, I read it in one day as it goes along fairly quick and the story flows quickly

It reminds me of The Store by Bentley Little without all the gore and sex in Little's version, it kept my attention (like I said I read it in one day) to see how it ended, well-----I didn't care much for the ending but yet I can't see how it could've ended any other way

I would consider it a 'creepy thriller' and not a mystery/suspense like Patterson usually writes but again I don't think he wrote this and just put his name on it to sell it.
