Love her books, such great humour and wonderful characters. This one has many suspects and is a joy to read. Always fun, always cozy and a great, fast read.
Another fun mystery featuring Meg Langslow and her wacky relatives.
Beautiful book, Great story! Meg Langslow . a working blacksmith is pregnant with twins when her husband Michael asks if she wouldnt mind having a houseguest. One of his doctoral students is directing his new translation of a play by a minor Spanish playwright, who has agreed to come to town for the production. Surely they can spare some room for such an important academic cause?
Señor Mendoza turns out to be a partygoer who loves to spend raucous evenings among adoring studentsat La Casa Langslow. Into this chaos arrives the dean of the English department, who insists the play be canceled. Then the unthinkable happens: The dean is found murdered, and Megs house has become a crime scene. Now its up to Meg to help Chief Burke solve the murders, rescue the students dissertation, make sure Michael doesnt lose tenure, and, while shes at it, give birth to twins. Encore! Encore!

Meg is in the homestretch of her pregnancy. All she wants to do is get a little rest and have a snack. How can you do anything with so many people in the house and then a murder. She tries to stay out of it but keeps finding suspects and clues.
I thought this book was better than the last but not as great as the first ones. He extended family was not in the book as much to add to the humor.
If you have not met Meg and her family, start from the beginning. She has the most Colorful family. Never a dull moment in this family.

It's the beginning of December, and Meg is due to give birth to twins any day. And her house is anything but restful. The heat has failed at nearby Caerphilly College where husband Michael teaches, and Meg and Michael are hosting a smattering of drama department students since they can't live in the dorms.
One of these students, Ramon Soto, is days away from putting on a play as part of his doctoral thesis. That is until Dr. Jean Wright and Dr. Enrique Blanco arrive, saying Ramon never got the approval for his thesis. In the midst of the confusion this sets off, one of them is killed. Now a very pregnant Meg is caught between trying to rest while still finding important pieces of the puzzle. Can she solve this mystery before she gives birth?
I've got to admit this wasn't the funniest book in the series, although I did laugh some at the usual antics of Meg's family and friends. However, I did enjoy the book. The mystery kept me confused until the end, and the characters, both returning and new, were great. I especially loved the character of Dr. Wright because she was so much fun to hate. Truly, that was an evil woman.
You'll never go wrong reading a book in this great series, and the latest is no exception. (Credit Mark Baker)
