The book presents this story through the eyes of Pearlie, and manages to have several surprises in the story that I did not anticipate. Liked the setting in the 1950's, with insight into the way the plot twists were addressed in that era, and the options available to Pearlie at that time vs now. Enjoyed this book very much...glad I read through to the end, because ending is very important to how you viewed the events that unfolded during the course of the book.
I read this book over one weekend, unusual for me.....plot kept me interested and I didn't want to put it down until I was finished.

Well, this was an interesting novel. Short, but rather powerful in its own way. Well-written with strong characters. I enjoyed it, but just didn't love it. Maybe because I loved _The Confessions of Max Tivoli_ so much more? I really don't have any specific complaints, other than it was just missing that extra something to make it a wonderful book.
This was an interesting book with good characters and surprises throughout.
Very interesting!
