Starts out a little slow, I actually came close to giving up on it once. That would have been a huge mistake! By the halfway point of the book, I thought I had it figured out, with visions of aliens, body-cavity probes, etc.. By the 3/4 mark, I was no longer sure what to expect. Great ending, not at all what I was expecting.

This one really freaked me out! I had weird dreams for a while!

Six strangers are unaccountably seized by nightmares, attacks of fear, and bouts of uncharacteristic behavior. The six begin to seek each other out as puzzling photographs and messages arrive, indicating that the cause may lie in a forgotten weekend stay at an isolated Nevada motel. Koontz has topped a fine roster of horror and suspense novels with an almost unbearably suspenseful page-turner.

Koontz has an incredible talent for weaving multiple storylines into one cohesive unit. Stephen King keeps you awake fearing monsters, Koontz keeps you awake fearing the government!!

A handful of people from different backgrounds living in different towns and cities across America, they had nothing in common--except fear. Cold and stark, an unknown terror gripped their dreams and turned their days into a living nightmare. And they could not escape. Deep in the heart of a sprawling desert, a dark memory called out to them, drawing them to the Tranquility Motel - where the terrifying truth was waiting...

This was the first Dean Koontz novel that I ever read, and I believe his best. This is one of those books that you never want to put down. I was engrossed and wanted to know how all of the characters were connected. Koontz just churns them out like Danielle Steel now, but this novel proves that he used to be a talented writer.

One of Koontz's earlier efforts, from back when he wrote powerful, gripping suspense stories with realistic characters and situations - unlike the crap he writes now.

BIG book. I carried it with me everywhere for a full summer to read it. Well worth it! Great book, but felt as if the author rushed the ending.

They were strangers. A handful of people. From different backgrounds, living in different towns and cities across America, they had nothing in common---except fear. They were victims....They were chosen....another Stephen King thriller.

everyone talked this book up. I was unimpressed. he bounces from characters, but really doesn't give enough to get hooked I got about 150 pages into it and just didn't even want to continue.
