Lt. Eve Dallas and her crew once again have to unravel a mystery surrounding the death of a prominent man. This book was not as action-filled as many others in the series, but the story was engaging and moved at a fast pace. Very enjoyable read.

This is one of the few series that I will purchase new in hardback. This title is the only one that has been less than satisfying.
There is less action, sex (if you care about that), character growth/change than any other in the series, IMHO. I didn't care much about the victim or the villain. Surely hope that this series is not dying off because I love the characters but it seemed as if the author owed her publisher a book so she scrawled out 350+ pages.
I didn't hate it because I love the characters, major and minor, but it didn't grab me and if this had been the first title I had read, I probably wouldn't have read another.

This is my all-time favorite series, but STRANGERS IN DEATH wasn't my favorite book. Although the mystery is interesting, as always, there wasn't much character development, and most of my favorite characters (Mavis, Summerset, McNab, etc.) are rarely mentioned.
Overall, you won't want to miss this installment if you're a fan of the series, but this isn't the best place for a newcomer to begin reading.

I didn't think it was the typical Dallas. A little slow read, but ok.

The body of Thomas Anders was found in his bedroom, tied up and slowly strangled by a cord. The scene is set up to look like Anders was entertaining someone while his wife was out of town when their sex games went wrong. But Lt. Eve Dallas sees something else and immediately knows who is behind the murder. Unfortunately, she has no evidence. Now Eve and her team must dig to find how a person who has an airtight alibi could commit this murder.
This addition to the In Death series was a little different. Since Eve figured out who was behind the murder very early in the story, she must figure out exactly how it was done. I thought the pacing of this story was pretty good. We don't get a lot of character growth in this one, but the story was very entertaining. My rating: 5 Stars.

A very intriguing story that again leaves me amazed how this author can continue deliver another book in such a lengthy series without repeating herself or making the series boring. Eve Dallas is a character that impresses me with how focused she is on the case and with the tenacity of a pit bull, doesn't let go of our suspect once her sight is locked on them.
The sub-plots going on in each book make the stories even better and the characters more real. I enjoyed Charles and Louise's side story and look forward to seeing how Eve deals with this as time goes on.

Another great read from Robb. The "Dallas-Roark" combination can't be beat. Full of suspense, romance, humor and fun!!
She never disappoints. I'm going to be ticked off when I get to the end of this series and have to wait for new ones to come out.
What can I say,J.D.Robb is always a great read,in my opinion. This is a solid Eve Dallas story.
This is the first book of this series I have read.I really enjoyed it.Actually I liked it so well I am going to start with one and read as many as I can.
Strangers in death is anther hit by Ms Robb. i look forward to Promises in Death.
This review is from someone who's read only a few novels in this series. This book flagged a bit in the middle, but the premise grabbed me from the very beginning, and about 4/5 of the way through, the pace and suspense both picked up quite a bit for a satisfying ending. Not terribly original, since the plot borrows from a famous Hitchcock film, but a good read all the same.
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
In 2060 New York, some murders still get more attention than others, especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman, found in his Park Avenue apartment, tied to the bed-and strangled with cords of black velvet. Fortunately, homicide cop Lieutenant Eve Dallas's billionaire husband, Roarke, happens to own the prime real estate where Thomas Anders's sporting-goods firm is headquartered, giving her some help with access. Before long, she's knocking on doors-and barging through them-to look for the answers she needs.
But some things don't add up-and everyone's alibi checks out, from the wife who was off in the tropics to the nephew who stood to inherit millions. Was this a crime of passion-or a carefully planned execution? It's up to Dallas to solve this sensational case in which those who seem to be intimates sometimes guard secrets from each other-and strangers may be connected in unexpected, and dealdy, ways...

Love this whole series of books!
Good book. This one is double case, double trouble, double homicide, double intrigue. A good read.
really good
Great read!
