I absolutely loved Ms. Blayney's first two-story novel, Lover's Kiss/Traitor's Kiss. I had hoped this one would be even better and would have been happy if it had been just as good. Sadly, it was not quite as good. Not bad, mind you. Just not great.
At times, I found the dialogue difficult to follow. Some of that occurred when she relied on characters and plots from her previous stories. Unfortunately, I read them too long ago and no longer remembered the references. For that reason, I might have given this story higher marks if I had just finished the first and would recommend you review those storylines before reading this one to refresh your recall.
That being said, this was not a bad book and provided two days of reading enjoyment. My neutral-leaning-slightly-positive feelings about the book are reflected in my lukewarm rating.

This third book of the Pennistan series wasn't as intriguing as Nos. 1 and 2. However, it did focus on the life of a Duke during that period. Which, as the author explained in the 'Author's Note", was her purpose. The life of The Duke of Meryon had equal billing with the love story. In fact, the love story was almost secondary. I did find this very interesting in terms of his life and the history of the times in which he lived. I have read many Regency 'Duke' stories, but this is the first time I got a real sense of what role a Duke played in this period. I liked him, but really was not enamored of the heroine.

I am in love with the Pennistans. It started with Lord Gabriel in Traitor's Kiss and has continued through book 2 and now with Lynford's story dealing with his feelings for Elena and his quest for justice for his groom and how it all intertwines keeps you reading and caring about all of the people involved even the secondary characters. You hope they all get their happily ever after. This series is akeeper.
