As the description says, this book is not about baseball. The sleuth, Kate, is a baseball writer for a fictional Toronto newspaper. The action occurs in Kate's neighborhood while she is at home during a baseball strike. Her policeman beau, Andy, is also not working: first he is in the hospital after being shot, then he is at home recuperating.

The pace is fast, characters interesting, resolution not obvious and not far-fetched. I read it in one sitting.
