I really liked Lucy Lawrence's cozy debut in her new decoupage murder mystery series. Brenna Miller is the new gal in the little town of Morse Point who works with her friend,Tenley,in her 'Vintage Papers' shop. It has a great plot, likeable characters, a great setting, and a murder mystery that kept me stumped until the last few pages as to who the murderer was. I loved the quirky townspeople who made me laugh outloud throughout the book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series called 'Cut to the Corpse'.

Good start to a new cozy series! Just received the 2nd one in series and will read it soon!
Absolutely loved this first book in the series. Very likeable main character, a great group of other characters with a couple quirky ones thrown in for good measure. Quick read. Highly recommend it!
Another book blogger told me about this series. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. But when I was informed that Lucy Lawrence was actually Jenn McKinlay, I knew I had to give it a try. I've read her cupcake bakery series and loved it. So I thought ok, lets try this series.
I'm so glad I did too. From the get go, you think for sure you know who killed the mayor. Boy was I ever shocked to see that I was wrong the whole time. I love books that are written like that. Ones that make you think one person is guilty when really someone else is responsible for all of it.
The only issue I had with this book was that it kept talking about a secret from Brenna's past. Almost to the point where I was starting to wonder if maybe I had started with the wrong book in the series. But then about three-quarters of the way through the book, you find out what happened. I wish that part maybe had been done a little differently.
So just a heads up on that so you won't be thinking the same thing I did. That you are reading the wrong book.
I do highly recommend this book. It is really truly good. And it's not heavy on the decoupage at all. At times it's more of a setting than a thing. And yes true to form, there is some baking going on as well. But no recipes at the back. Kinda hated that!
