Pros:
Written for people who do not have much experience in the kitchen the steps are much more detailed than a normal recipe and there are additional notes and tips to aid the first timer.

Along that vein, most recipes are also very easily made, with a short list of ingredients.

The recipes are fairly cheap to make.

There is a buying guide for fresh produce as well as a basic kitchen techniques guide in the beginning of the book. It covers everything needed for the recipes and can be used as a reference.

Cons:
The recipes were not amazing. Nothing especially bad, just not great either.

No pictures.

Also included in the beginning of the book is a section devoted to why meat eating is destroying the planet. I personally was not a fan of that part, but it is a small section and easily skipped.

Overall: These recipes are a great starting point, but once the recipient of this book knows more about cooking in general and cooking vegetarian meals specifically, they will likely seek out more or better options.
