This was a light, easy read that almost had a slap-stick comedy feel to it. It did start out a little slow but it picked up about half-way through. I do have to say though, that I've like his other books that I've read better than this one. I also found out, after reading it, that a bunch of characters were from some of his books that I haven't gotten around to reading yet, so this one should be read after you've read:
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal
The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
Practical Demon-Keeping
Island of the Sequined Love Nun
Although, it's only if you like reading about characters to get that nostalgic feeling. I did fine without it.
Overall, it's pretty funny and there were a few moments where I'd get a good laugh out.

Very strangely funny book. The first two chapters were a bit hard to read but by the third I was hooked.

Another tale set in Pine Cove, California, this one at Christmastime. Several singular bizarre incidents combine together to set off a chain of events that literally leaves you howling on the floor with laughter. Well...maybe just on the couch, but I NEARLY fell off I laughed so hard. I've found Moore's books to be somewhat hit or miss, but this one is definitely a hit. I really like the crazy, outlandish Pine Cove clan.

Oh, this was a hysterical book! I definitely laughed out loud multiple times as I read this! I really enjoy Christopher Moore's writing style and his sense of humour - and this book is no exception! It was a funny Christmas story bringing back characters from his other books. It was fun, fast and funny!

Before I say anything else, Ive gotta say that I loved every single one of these characters. And although the other book by Moore Id read ("A Dirty Job") was an enjoyable ride until the end which was a little eh, this one was fully enjoyable the entire way through. There were times when the laughter just bubbled out of me and startled my co-worker when I read during lunch in the lunchroom. It came to a point where she actually said, Okay...is it REALLY that funny? so I read her a part, completely out of context, and she was laughing and wrote it on her own to read list. Be warned, however: this book is completely irreverent. And the angel in it is REALLY stupid. Roberto, the fruit bat, however? Total win.
