First book of the series and looks to be a good series. Very good author, keeps the pace going evenly and keeps you turning pages and on the edge until the end. I accidentally bought this book again and I read it again, just as good the second time around!

The first book in a new FBI trilogy Brennan does not disappoint in this new series beginning. FBI agents are on the trail of serial killers. They have figured out the motive, they think, of why all the men of a Delta team are targeted for torture and death. A reporter, Rosemont, was included on a mission that went wrong when he revealed their position to the Taliban. Rosemont was captured and tortured for three months and blamed the Delta team for abandoning him. But he was such a mental case that he couldn't plan or carry out the murders without his partner. I couldn't put this book down until the end.
Five stars!

This is book holds you attention and was so good that I read the next book in the series right after it. Great development of story line. Would recommend it to any mystery reader.

Three former Delta Forces have been brutally tortured and murdered. The press is calling it the Hamstring Killer case and Megan Elliott, FBI special agent is in charge of solving it. Jack Kincaid, mercenary and former Delta Forces, enters the picture when one of his buddies is a victim of this sadistic killer.
Jack and Megan hit it off immediately and join forces with Hans (Megan's boss), Dillon (Jack's brother, Matt (Megan's brother) and Padre (Jack's friend, also Delta Force). The action heats up and the murders come faster and faster until it all comes to a head and they discover who the killer is. Now if only they could find her...
The reader knows who the killers are from the first chapter. The real mystery here is why not who. This is a great story and well-written with plenty of intrigue and romance. Book 2 - Fatal Secrets ought to be interesting.

The killer murdered vets in Austin and Las Vegas before the third victim appeared in a Sacramento alley. Each was single, between thirty five and forty five years old, and former Delta Force soldiers; they were tortured with their hamstrings cut so they could not escape. FBI special agent Megan Elliot knows she has a serial killer to contend with, but who and why remains out of reach. She turns to the military to learn more about the Delta Force, but the Pentagon refuses to cooperate; going so far as claiming a corpse due to national security.
Ex-Army Ranger Jack Kincaid runs a mercenary team in Texas. When someone tortures and murders one of his associates, a Delta Force vet, he vows justice for his fallen brother in arms. His breaking the rules leads him to frustrated by the book Megan.
Readers meet the two killers and the motive before Megan investigates the Sacramento crime scene so the tense story line is more a cat and mouse contest with death being the most likely outcome. Jack and Megan are opposites as he flaunts the rules while she embraces them. They are a wonderful pairing, but the prime reason fans will enjoy this exhilarating FBI romantic suspense is the chilling serial killing duo Karin and Ethan, but especially her.

FBI Supervisory Special Agent Megan Elliott is sent to look into the murder of a homeless man in Sacremento. This murder is similar to two other unsolved murders the FBI is investigating. When a fourth murder leads her to Texas, she meets Jack Kincaid. Jack's best friend has just been killed and he wants the person responsible. He knows the local police will do nothing, so he has brought in the FBI. Megan, Jack, and a whole team of Federal Agents work to find who is behind the murders and where the killer will show up next.
This is the first book in Allison Brennan's FBI trilogy. It has some characters from previous books. This story drew me in right away. We were told who was responsible for the murders up front, but we had to figure out the motive for the murders.
The story was well-paced with an intricate plot. There were lots and lots of characters. I thought I would have to start writing them down to keep track of them. I liked the main characters. Megan was a by-the-book FBI agent. Jack threw the book out long ago. They worked well together. This book was billed as romantic suspense, but it was more a mystery thriller with a little romance thrown in. My rating: 4 Stars.

Sudden death was a great book. Stayed up all night reading it, couldn't put it down.
Really good book!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has a very good plot and kept me guessing all the way through. I can't wait to continue reading this series.
I really enjoyed this book. The story was fast paced and exciting. The bad guys were really sick. This book had me on pins and needles throught out the whole story.
I just finished this book, it's the first one in a new series by this author. It is so good. You get hooked on it from the beginning. I look forward to reading the next two in this series.
This is a great book! But please note, it is a hard cover, not a paperback as listed. The ISBN comes up incorrectly.
Good read.
