Lucas Davenport, the main character in the "Prey" series is involved in a shootout with bank robbers in which two of the robbers are killed. The remaining robbers come after Davenport,his friends, his fiancee and anyone connected with him for revenge.

Another great story in the "Prey" series by John Sanford. SOme do it for profit. SOme do it because they must. But when his team guns down two bank robbers in the middle of a heist, Davenport falls prey to the purest, simplest criminal motivation: revenge.

Sandford does it again. Another real page-turner. The bad part of his books? I don't get much else accomplished because I get so caught up I don't want to put the book down.
I have read all of John Sandford books and they always have me up most of the night trying to figure out the plot of the story and I never managed to work out the real villain. The books are masterpieces of fiction and you will not be disappointed. I guarantee a great read.

good read
Sandford has a good formula going for his Prey series and this one fits the mold. You know what you're getting - lots of action, POV from both his protagonist Davenport plus that of the killer. In this one, Davenport and his team take down two bank robbers, one the wife and the other the sister of a violent criminal. He escapes from prison and embarks on revenge against the families of the cops. No need to have read the others.

One of John Sandford's early books and an excellent read. Fast acting, don't put it down action.
Did you ever play pinball? The little steel balls come out of the chute and bounce off obstacles in their path. You watch tensely as they make their way toward the flippers, maybe using a little body English, trying desperately to keep them in motion and win the game. That's sort of what Sudden Prey is like. Lucas Davenport and his fellow law officers bounce around trying to apprehend an escaped bank robber's gang which is bent on vengeance. I've read the first 18 books in the Prey series. They're all good, but this one I absolutely could not put down until I finished it.
A friend gave me some John Sandford books and I enjoyed reading them. It's been too long to remember the details.
