Wow. This was great! When I read the description on the back, I thought I knew what it was about. I was wrong. It was better. You go through a range of emotions reading this book and I couldn't put it down. Ignore what your gut tells you when you read the title. This is definitely one of those "you can't judge a book from its cover" types.

This is Kleypas' first outing in the contemporary market. She does not disappoint.
I won't say what the book is about, but it's not what you think. Give yourself plenty of time to read it because you are not going to put it down. It's a really great book and I truely hope that one character gets his own story.

I am a big fan of her historical romances and this was another great book by Lisa Kleypas. I have to say though that I think one of the characters change in personality at the end was a little unbelieveable, or maybe it just didn't end the way I wanted it to end. Definitely worth a read.
I really enjoyed this book;I read it in one sitting. Lisa's follow up book "Blue-Eyed Devil" continues with Haven(Gage's baby sister) and Hardy. Both of these books are must reads if you're a Lisa Kleypas fan.

This was a great book! I definitely recommend it as I couldn't put it down! Wish she'd write more contemporary novels as I'm not a fan of historical romances!

SUGAR DADDY is not your typical romance, it was nothing like I had expected and I found it a refreshing change. First person is not my favorite perspective to read, in fact I usually avoid it, but Lisa Kleypas made it work for me. Her storyline and characters captivated me from the start. While at first I was leary of where the story was going, soon I was so enthralled, I just couldn't wait to see how it all unfolded!
I really liked Liberty, she was a strong person, that no matter what obstacle came up, she was able to overcome it. I liked that she had friends who helped her through difficult times, and she wasn't to stubborn to accept it when it was truly needed. I thought she was doing the best to raise her sister.
I could understand Hardy's determination to make something of himself. His leaving to chase his dreams, while hurtful to Liberty was the right choice. There was a heat between that had me wanting to see them get together, at least until she met Gage. Gage was a strong man with a great sense of integrity. He knew what he wanted, but he was smart enough not to give Liberty and ultimatum. The chemistry between Gage and Liberty was intense.

I'm a big fan of Kleypas's historical novels, but I avoided this book for a long time because very few authors can do both genres well. Plus, I don't much like first person point of view. But boy, was I glad I finally picked it up. This turned out to be a great book, although it starts out a little slow, spending time on the heroine's childhood.
The hero is hot! I recommend all 3 of the books in this series, read them in order.

I sort of enjoyed this book. It's not the type of Lisa Kleypas books I usually read. It kinda reminded me of Nora Roberts [book:Black Hills|6013511] where the heroine pines after the bad boy whose left town to better himself heedless of the situation he leaves her in. She then has stunted relationships because she's hung up on this old love. This book is basically the same thing. Liberty loves Hardy who is determined to get out of the small town and make something of himself. He leaves and doesn't call or write for ten years and then shows up unexpectedly acting like nothing has changed and thinks Liberty should drop everything because now he's ready. However, Liberty has moved on with her life and has just now become involved with a terrific man. Choices, choices.
If you like the whole small town gossipy kind of life, this is your type of book. It goes into minute detail on small town living and I found most of the book rather boring. It follows Liberty from a 14 year old girl with all the teenage dilemnas and problems thru college and then some. Don't get me wrong, it's a good book but too much of the gossipy feel for me.

First off, this was a really good book. No question. But it was a lot more than a romance, somebody told me it was more chick-lit, but I don't agree with that either. There was just a lot going on in this book. Liberty is an incredibly strong person and I admire her tremendously. I really did not undertsand the relationship with her sister and mother, and probably never will. But, that's okay. Gage was incredible too. I wish there was more detail in how their relationship began. That's always the sweetest part of any love story. Then there's Hardy, a lot of people said they didn't get him in the end. I did. It wasn't really hard to understand for me. I loved him in Blue Eyed Devil, and nothing's changed for me, I still liked that book better.
I read Blue-Eyed Devil fisrt and I adored it, it was one of the best books I've ever read. This was a great book but I can't give it as high of a review just because I like the next one better. Lisa writes heart wrenching and warming stories, I love the drama, the heat and the realism of her contemporary series. I highly recommend this series, even if you don't read them in order!
First book in the series. Very enjoyable romance. Strong female character.
