Savannah Reid is fit but full figured ex Southern Belle and current P.I.
When her ex partner and best friend in the world Dirk Coulter is arrested for murdering his ex wife, Savannah and her team of colorful characters put the petal to the metal to save his sorry butt.
All the facts point to Dirk as the murder and the high level police brass have a personal grudge against Savannah which they are more than willing to take out on her best friend.
Very entertaining mystery sprinkled liberally with humor.

Perfunctory, formulaic. Yet I kept reading, and I read the next one too. This series shouldn't work, but it works anyhow. Lightest of light reading.
This book i really enjoyed. Van was great! Read in one day!
A great book, really enjoyed Savannah Reid again. Fast reading, good to curl up with on a cold and snowy day.
Dirk and Savannah finally end up in bed together, but it isn't what you think. Dirk is overcome with grief at the death of his ex-wife. And by the way, he is accused of murdering her. One of the best in this series.
I enjoy Savannah and her partners, the books are enjoyable reads.
very good cozy series and funny too
Great book
Dirk's ex-wife returns, just in time to spoil Valentine's day for Savannah.
Excellent, fun series with a plus-size heroine (gotta love reality!).
Fun read~ I really enjoyed it!
5th in the Savannah Reid mystery series
From Booklist:
"Savannah Reid, erstwhile police officer and current PI, has deep Georgia roots and close ties to the family of friends she's built in Southern California, especially Dirk, her former partner and buddy. When Dirk's ex-wife is found in his trailer, shot with Dirk's gun, it looks very bad indeed. But never you mind: Savannah, armed with a passion for food and oozing steel-magnolia charm, sees what needs to be done. The plot encompasses skinheads, a Renaissance fair, stupid e-mail tricks, and abusive boyfriends; there are also amusing bits involving zaftig Savannah's skinny assistant, Tammy, and the sartorially perfect and perfectly charming gay couple, Ryan and John. This is a tale of revenge, finally: Savannah gets to stick it to the guy who fired her, to her deadbeat dad, to a clueless neo-Nazi teen, and even, in a way, to Dirk's ex-wife. Romping good fun, and don't forget the chocolates. GraceAnne A. DeCandido"
