Rafe Sugarman was a man trying to escape his past. Since he returned to Mississippi, all he wanted was to put down roots and hope no one ever found out that he was a southerner who had fought with the Yankees. Then he meets Serena Quinn, a woman who never lets any man close to her. Rafe immediately tries to break her defenses. But Serena has a past she will never forget...one that Rafe may not be able to overcome.

This author never disappoints. All of her books are solid historical romances with strong plots and interesting characters. This is another good one. My rating: 4 Stars.
