This was my 2nd book, read one after the other, by Elin Hilderbrand. The other was "Barefoot." After reading that book, which was excellent, I was excited to read this one. I was disappointed though. I didn't like the book. The characters didn't interest me the way that they did in Barefoot. I think because this was one of her earlier books written, she hadn't developed as much as a writer as she did with later books like "Barefoot."

Very quick light read. I was able to read this over the weekend. It moves at a good pace and is surprisingly gritty.

I usually love Hilderbrand books for fun, light beach reading. This book was different. The tone was heavier, the characters were less likable, the whole thing was tedious and fell flat for me. I trudged through the first 3/4 of it until it finally got interesting.
Definitely a departure from her usual work.

Another great read by Elin Hilderbrand...
Good summer read.
Summer people was another great book by Elin. I can't put her book's down.
This is a good book with some troubled characters. I love this author, but I have to say this is not one of my favorites.
So fun, a quick read. Great for vacation!
I had heard of this popular author so thought I'd read one of her books. I wasn't disappointed. There were a few times during the story where I was expecting alittle more but at the end it made me tearup. I look forward to reading more stories by this author.
This book is another awesome book by Elin Hilderbrand. The story begins with a family and a guest crossing the ferry into Nantucket for the summer. The Newton family has just lost Arch their husband and father. The guest Marcus has lost his mom to the penal system for murder. The Newton twins have different ideas about Marcus spending the summer with them. Winnie is so excited to spend time with him. Her father was the attorney for his mother and it was actually his invitation for Marcus to visit. Garrett is upset for this boy being on the family vacation.
It is heartwarming story that shows how people can deal with adversity and then put their lives back together.

good beach read, but with substance. i enjoyed teh way teh subject of death, inter racial romance, teen pregnancy, secrets, were all dealt with in a respectful manner.
I really enjoyed this book. It's a quick read because it's so interesting.
Teenage twins become aware of their widowed mother's past during an annual vacation to Nantucket. Interesting plot.
I received this book from PBS and read it in one sitting! A light summer read, but I really enjoyed it.
enjoyed this book.
Another good summer read!
Kind of a depressing book.
