Chock-full of romance! The hero finally breaks down the heroine's reserve using "old-fashioned romance" although the story is not without it's sex scenes. Now don't get me wrong--I enjoy the sex scenes but it was nice to see the hero focus on the romantic aspect of the relationship before letting his "desire" get the better of him. I look forward to the other character's stories.

This is one of my all-time favorite romance novels. Mary Balogh at her best! I'm only posting it because somehow I ended up with two copies.

The heroine in this novel was hard to like. She was too perfect but by the end of the book I was begining to like her which to me was a little too late.

Another great Mary Balogh! Great romance novel!

Second prequel to the great Bedwyn series-Kit and Lauren's story- Lauren finally gets the guy. I recommend reading "One Night For Love" first-Nevell and Lily's story with Lauren as a secondary character. Intro to the Bedwyn's as Kit's(estranged) friend and neighbor. Great story-all iceburgs must melt sometime.
One of my favortie romance authors. This is a great kick off to a wonderful series.

A very romantic story of a smiling viscount who carries his wounds on the inside and his "pretend" fiance who was left at the alter a year before in One Night For Love.
Mary Balogh doesn't disappoint in this sequel, giving us a sweet romantic metamorphosis of Lauren, the perfect lady, into Lauren the woman. As Lauren helps Kit reunite with his family, and as Kit helps Lauren find fun and adventure, love and a deep bond are formed. The story may be predictable but the characters are memorable and the prose and storytelling delight.
Particularly charming, in Balogh's style, is when she recognizes she may be using language or a turn of phrase that is too contemporary for the historical period - Balogh addresses it directly in a manner that doesn't jar away from the story and in fact adds nuance that further demonstrates Balogh's great skill as a writer.

Adored this book!
Such a well written story, the characters are so well developed they seemed real to me. There is lots of chemistry and hot, raw passion. A lovely story that kept me wanting to read more even after the book was done.
Enjoy!! :))

Kit Butler's family has matchmaking plans that he wants nothing to do with. So, he decides to find his own bride. Lauren Edgeworth was abandoned at the altar over a year ago and is determined that marriage is not for her. But when Kit and Lauren meet they make a deal. Lauren will masquerade as Kit's intended if he agrees to provide a passionate, unforgettable summer. When the summer ends, she will break off their engagement, rendering her unmarriageable and leaving them both free. It sounds like a great plan until Kit falls in love with her.
This book moved along very slowly. At times I almost gave up on it. The pace did pick up a little toward the end which made it more enjoyable.

One of Mary Balough's finest recent books!
Kit made the book for me because he was so much fun. I wasn't fond of Lauren in the other books but I think Balogh did a very good job with her background story. Now she makes sense to me and I can sympathize with her more.
Fun book but if you read Balogh's books back to back, you will realize that they are all very similar.

This is one of my most favorite books. I love how the H & H start out as conspirators and quickly become comrades. The lowering of each's barriers is wonderful. Just thinking about this books makes me smile.
This book, a "prequel" to the Bedwyn Series, and "sequel" to "One Night for Love," is another wonderful book by Mary Balogh! I loved it!
A romance set in England. Kit Butler needs to marry for heirs and since he doesn't seem to want to give up the wilder life his father has picked a wife for him. Lauren was abandoned at the altar and has determined that marriage is not for her but she would like to experience an adventurous summer. The 2 decide to pretend they are engaged for Kit to avoid the unwanted wife and in exchange he agrees to show her a great summer. Of course he falls in love with her but must convince Lauren that they need more than a summer to remember.
A good followup to her previous books
I love watching an iceberg thaw!
The author delights you with a compassionate story about relationships no matter what era.
A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh is sweet and heartbreaking. I couldn't imagine living with the fear and restrictions Lauren did. She was very strong, though. Kit was altogether charming and I enjoyed the process of his opening Lauren up to fun and passion. I think it would definitely help to have read "One Night for Love" first, though. It tells a lot of Lauren's history. This is the sequel.
This is the first of the Bedwyn books. Really liked how they came together
Love this book, which leads into the Bedwyn series
I always enjoy the stories Mary Balogh weaves. I really enjoyed A Summer to Remember and I'm reading the rest of the series as quickly as I can get my hands on them.
