A wonderfully inviting story that captures the perfect summer vacation with just the girlfriends. After reading this book, I wanted to call my closest girl friends and book a month away! As the three best friends were in different points in their lives, it was nice to see each friend work through their own personal tragedies and come to more or less a nice and neat conclusion. Another character joins these three in their beach house and ends up mixing things up a bit.
My one little complaint about the book lies in the fourth character Maryn. I loved how she was introduced and you werent sure where she was going to fit into the story. But as the reader gets into the second half, I felt as though she was lost in the shuffle. She was lost to the wayside, until she becomes the focal point as the book concludes. As always, I will not reveal this ending as it is worth the read, but maybe if she had a larger role throughout the book, I wouldnt have felt so sideswiped when the book starts to finish.
The arc of the three best friends was touching, emotional, and felt very real. I saw the personalities of my best friends and how we can see each others situations as so much better than our own. I know I covet where my friends are in their lives and maybe some of them covet where I am yet- maybe not! I wanted to be a part of their group because I felt as though they were real people with real issues and situations that the everyday woman could find herself in, whether that be a job change, relationship status change or a move for a significant other. These women were going through things each woman could relate to no matter the time of their lives.
A read that my mom has already loved and thoroughly enjoy. I am passing it along to my friends who need the perfect summer read, even if fall may be beginning.

Took me a long time to get through this one - it was a good story - it just moved a little slow.

Really enjoyed this book, fairly quick/light read. Like others have written though I wished the character of Madison/Maryn had been more developed. Found myself laughing out loud at one section towards the end.

Ellis, Julia and Dorie--three friends since childhood--spend a month together in the Outer Banks. They all are at crossroads in their lives--figuring out what do with their love lives and/or their careers. Their friendship and the dialogue rang true. Fun beach read. Made me want to grab my best friends and head to the shore.
I loved this book and finished it in one sitting. Mary Kay Andrews has a way of engaging a reader right from page 1, paragraph 1.
The characters, three friends, have agreed to spend the summer together and have rented a beach house that sounds glowing on paper. Predictably, it is anything but, yet the friends make the best of it and find romance and humor and some healing all in a summer together.
Highly recommend this for the good feeling it leaves.

I loved this book. The characters were enjoyable, and yes, it was predictable. However I hated to see it end.
Good summer read! Mary Kay Andrews never seems to disappoint me in that way - I have read some of her other stories and always seem to come back!
I was on vacation and this book was left in an Airbnb so I decided to try it. I didn't appreciate some of the language in this book but it was a story line that kept my attention until the end.
Excellent story! It was truly a page turner that was hard to put down. I gave it to my sister to read, and she feels the same way! We love the setting! The characters are well-developed, and so many themes were woven throughout the book! LOVED it!
I love MKA, but I couldn't finish this one. It barely held my interest, I hope she recovers with the next one.
Second book by this author that I have read. Loved this one also.
MKA is a fantastic author that sucks you in from the get go and you can't wait to finish, but then you don't want it to end either

This is a good beach read, quick, light summer read. It is somewhat predictable, but the characters are great so you don't seem to care and the 400 pages fly by.
A good read for a Summer or Winter Break - nothing earth shattering, but still very enjoyable!
Can't wait for the next book by Mary Kay Andrews.
A disappointment. This three-friends-hanging-out tale utterly lacks Andrews' usual pop and fizzle. The two big "reveals" are telegraphed waaaay in advance, and it's virtually impossible to believe that the runaway wife who joins the three buddies doesn't see what's coming.
Good, summer read.
Excellent read! Mary Kay Andrews does not disappoint!
Another winner by Mary Kay Andrews. My only problem..........I don't have another one to start. I read it in a day. Loved the characters and the plot. If you love her books.............this one does not disappoint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
