Lighthearted look at alcoholism and it's impact on the addict and those who care. Cat is an alcoholic - but she can stop at any time. She's young - isn't that what you're supposed to do when you're young? When her marriage dissolves and she loses custody of her daughter, she starts to realize the damage she has done to herself and those she loves. She takes her sobriety seriously and works the steps of AA - the most difficult one: making amends to those you have hurt. Again, a serious topic, but handled well for those not looking for depth into the topic. Liked the characters and the locale descriptions - but who wouldn't like Nantucket? Good beach read!

Summer Secrets by Jane Green is the story of Cat Coombs, a recovering alcoholic. The first half depicts the impact alcoholism can have on people's lives. The second half hinges upon Cat's recovery and her attempt to make amends to those her alcoholism has harmed. The book is a light look at a serious issue and one that predictably comes to a neat ending.
