Sharon Kay Penman is my favorite historical fiction author. As one reviewer said, her novel is "rich in detail and research." She has a mastferful approach to making a story out of historical fact that keeps you turning the pages and looking for more!

This is not only the best historical fiction novel I've read, but it's also one the best books I've ever read! Penman completely flips the "standard" character of Richard III that many of us are familiar with. If you're a fan of historical fiction (and even if you're not), please give this book a shot. You won't regret it!

This was an excellent historical novel about King Richard III from childhood to his death. Filled with treachery and treason, love and passion, this 900 page book was one I could not put down.

If you want a book on the life of King Richard III this is it! Such wonderful descriptions of the era, I felt as if I was there experiencing each and every event. Sharon Kay Penman has always been one of my very favorite authors and she did not let me down on this one. If you like historical history and want to know more of Richard III this is the book for you. I would recommend anything by this author.

This is one of the better books that I have read. The research that went into the writing of this book is incredible. You don't have to like history or historical fiction to like this book. All that I ever knew of Richard III was from what Shakespeare that I had in school. This book gives him humanity and substance rather than the comic book-like characterization that has been the case in the past.
This is the first of Sharon Kay Penman's books that I have read. If they are all as well written and researched as this one, all I can say is, Wow! I recommend this book highly to anyone. A highly enjoyable read.

Man of honor, an idealist, kind, faithful, loyal. That is the Richard III we find in The Sunne in Splendor. Penman has written a terrific historical fiction novel that seems to come alive on the page. It is reading history unfold and in this story the white rose is in bloom.
Desert Island Keeper - one of my favorite books of all time. Brilliant account of Richard IIIs life. Tons of research went into this book. Marvelous writing. Love this author.
