This is a really good book and if you like her others, I definitely recommend it. I go to Karen Robards' books when I am in the mood for a book where the romance story seems to be primary and the crime/murder secondary. I also like Lisa Jackson's books but in my opinion, hers tend to have the crime/murder being primary and the romance secondary. I don't believe one is better than the other, just different.

I love Karen Robards, so I went along with the paranormal aspects of this book. Even though thats not really my thing, I think she pulled it off.

A suspense filled story about a reporter investigating the death of a young girl 17 years earlier. When another girl is killed, she must work with a gorgeous cop to solve the case.

Good read. Murder mystery set in Pawleys Island (South Carolina).

Easy to listen to on a long drive. For the whodunit genre where the heroine is beautiful and smart and the hero is a manly man, this one falls in the middle. Only one steamy bodice ripper moment and the plot is twisty enough to keep one listening. This one is abridged but I don't think the plot or characterizations suffered for it.I would never buy a hard cover or paperback of a book like this but for no-brainer listening, it's really pretty good.

When Nicky Sullivan starts looking for a story for her failing investigative news program, she thinks about her childhood home on Pawleys Island, South Carolina, remembering the unsolved deaths of three teenagers that occurred there 15 years ago, and turns to the local psychic, her mother Leonora James, for help. The only problem is that her mother, who agreed to a live broadcast, is having problems with her ability to communicate with the dead, and Nicky is worried that the show will be a bust rather than a ratings booster. But Leonora comes through with a riveting reading that instigates a new murder that mimics the previous murders and places Nicky in danger. Instead of hiding, Nicky comes back to the island to cover the investigation and butts heads with the chief of police, Joe Franconi. Joe is a former vice cop from New Jersey who was forced to resign, ending up in the sleepy southern town with an inexperienced department now responsible for searching for what appears to be a serial killer. As the two lead their separate investigations, Joe and Nicky become increasingly attracted to one another. This is another winner from the popular and prolific Robards, who delivers a great romantic thriller filled with interesting characters in a classic edge-of-the-seat read.

Sparks fly between the police chief and a reporter when they are thrown together when a brutal killer comes out of hiding after 15 years.

Nicky Sullivan is a cub reporter and correspondent for the "24-Hour Investigates" news magazine (think 48-Hours), and is out to prove herself so that she can attain her goal of co-host on a New York based morning news program. Sometimes her ambition clouds her judgment and sense of safety.
In her hometown of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, a grisly unsolved mystery still haunts the residents. With the help of her psychic mother, she plans a live on-air seance to bring the dead teens back to solve the crime on national television. The problem is her psychic mom is blocked. But the show must go on, despite protestations of the town mayor and harried new police chief, Joe Franconi. Joe has his own set of issues, including discussions with a long-dead friend, Brian.
Soon, another murder with the same M.O. occurs, and it looks like Nicky is another of the intended victims. Joe does his best to protect her, but she won't have it - she had to be at the crux of the action. He would have been better off letting the killer take care of her.
From the moment they meet, Joe is attracted to Nicky. She, on the other hand is quite surly since no one gets in her way of the story, even to the detriment of an on-going police investigation. I never really felt like the connection was there on her end - she seemed to be using him to further her career, so the romance was lukewarm. Joe has a checkered past, which threatens his new position in the wrong hands (i.e., an ambitious reporter).

Good audio book...it kept me sane during a 10 hours traffic jam due to a snow storm...no kidding...Joyce Bean is not one of my favorite narrators but that did not ruin the experience to me. Entertaining and well plotted.

FANTASTIC STORY AS USUAL FOR K. ROBARDS. YOU'LL NEVER GUESS "WHO DUNIT".

Enjoyable read by Karen Robards. She never disappoints!
The murder of a local girl and disappearance of her two friends 15 years ago on Pawleys Island, has never been solved. Now, journalist Nicky Sullivan considers the story her big break. But as she works with Police Chief Joe Franconi, the body count rises.
i like it
Very typical of Robards' books, a little love interest and mystery but this one also has a couple of ghosts. Enjoyable
fast moving story line and full of suspense. Good book and an easy read.
Very good book. It keeps you guessing right up to the last pages.
Could not put this book down!
You can never go wrong with a Karen Robards book. A good plot, good suspense, really liked it.
entertaining, can't put down, compelling romantic suspence, with supernatural elements
I really enjoyed Karen Robards book. It was different than her other books but just as enjoyable.
Good book with a surprising ending; typical of robard's books. Worth the read.
Very, very good book!!!
Loved this book. A mystery that is anything but predictable. Set on a South Carolinian island a TV reporter returns home to investigate a 15 year-old murder of three teenage girls only to find herself in the killer's sights. The police chief gets more than he bargained for as well. So much for a sleepy little southern island.
good, but not as good as some of her others.
Terrific book! It is about a reporter that must return home to her small souther town to report on a bizarre event. It will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Pawleys Island, South Carolina is the newest romantic suspense setting for Karen Robard's book Superstition. Nicole Sullivan, a TV reporter, sets up a seance in a home that had a great tragedy happen in it. Three young girls had been brutally killed and Nicole's mother, a renowned psychic, attempted to make contact with them for Nicole's TV show. Things go horribly awry and one member of the TV crew, a young woman, ends up dead. So begins this newest romantic suspense. Police Chief Joe Franconi and Nicole become better acquainted as Nicole tries to find out more about the original murders and herself becomes a target. Karen Robards always tells a great story.
Very good book. Kept me guessing until the very end.
a great romantic thriller.
Reporter Nicole Sullivan decides a story lies in an old, unsolved murder when she finds out that the house where the crime occurred is haunted. A renowned psychic is called in to lend a hand but something goes terribly wrong. Another girl is murdered in exactly the same way as the first victim and a warning is delivered that three more lives will be taken. Working with new romance, Police Chief Joe Franconi, Nicole attempts to stop the killer before she, too, becomes a victim. Very good mystery; interesting locale and characters.
This is an awesome book! I've never read any of Karen Robards books before but after this book I think I'm hooked!
Pawley's Island, South Carolina. Sunny, idyllic, and picture -perfect. until a tabloid news program airs a splashy segment about the community's only unsolved murder-the grisly stabbing of teenager Tara Mitchell and the subsequent disappearance of her two best friends, now thought to be long dead, In the years since the murders. several families have moved into the mansion where the crime occurred, each claiming that the dead girls still haunt the house. Beautiful redheaded reporter Nicole Sullivan, sensing the story that could be her big break, arranges for her mother, a renowned psychic, to contact the three victims in a live séance on the show Twenty-four Hours Investigates.
But something goes terribly wrong during the segment, and a young woman is murdered in the same manner as Tara Mitchell was fifteen years earlier. Pressured by her producers to get the inside story, Nicole continues to investigate. As an attraction grows between her and Police Chief Joe Farnconi, another identical murder occurs, and a menacing warning is delivered that the original killer is back to claim three more lives. The body count raised, and so does the danger to Nicole, who is attacked, barely escaping with her life. she and Joe must team up, as it becomes clear that the killer has set his sights on her as his next victim.

Couldn't even start it. I bought it because I automatically buy Robards but the story didn't sound like my cup o' tea, so it's on to the next happy home:)
Awesome book. I couldn't put it down. It has suspense, the supernatural, romance, and mystery. Robards proves she still has it.

The writing in this one seemed a bit stilted but it was a good story, and of course the characters were a "hoot". Always enjoy trying to figure out who the bad guy is in a Robards book. I was just beginning to suspect this guy by the time he was revealed.
Love Karen Robards. Enjoyed the book.
Great book!
