Very good read. Jeanne Dillard is one ofmy favorite Star Trek authors. She has a knack for capturing the characters' personalities.
The Enterprise responds to a distress call, only to find the last survivors of a lovely civilization dying just as they reach them.
In fact T'Pol kills the last survivor when he attacks Hoshi and she fires, on stun, to defend her. T'Pol then resolves that she will never use violence again, even in self-defense.
Her resolve is quickly tested when the Enterprise crew is faced with the same fate as the planet they tried to help.
Quite a lovely book. Dillard is one of the best Star Trek writers.
