Though this is my daughter's book I read it myself. It is mature matter. Appropriate only if your child is old enough to understand the Holocaust.

Each of these stories are moving, emotional and inspiring. Once I picked this up, I had a lot of trouble setting it down. As a Scholastic book, I expected it to be aimed at younger ages, but I am 20 and thoroughly enjoyed the book. Anyone who has an interest in the Holocaust or just humanity itself will love this book, no matter what your age.

This is book meant for the young adult to read. It clearly shows what the Jewish people had to endure. It tells the stories of a individuals from childhood up facing the hardships they went through. Each of them lived through this period in time and went on with their lives once the war was over.
I liked this book because I am interested in the people who lived through this time in history and moved forward with their lives afterward.

Growing up in the US it is hard to imagine these stories are true. They are all short stories that read as unbelieveable novellas that can't possibly be true, but unfortunately they are. While reading you have to continually remind yourself that these terrible things really happened less than 70 years ago. The world went crazy and people committed unspeakable acts against humanity. Please read this book and pass it on to your children so we can insure these unspeakable crimes against humanity never occur again. It is an easy read as this Scholastic book is geared toward students. For all those that deny the holocaust actually happened I feel sorry for you and your descendents.
