Determined to become an opera singer, Laurel Martin arrives in Denver where the only job she can find is as a singer in a saloon. Soon she is wearing low-cut dresses and singing to drunks and gamblers. She also finds herself attracted to her boss, Chance Rafferty. Chance is a gambler with an aversion to marriage. He wants Laurel, but doesn't want the ring that comes with her.
This book started out well but fell flat. The heroine is unbelievably naive. I became bored by the middle of the book but I did finish it. I'd give the first half of the books (which is amusing) 4 Stars and the second half 2 Stars. So, I guess my rating is 3 Stars.
