The year was 1845, and for Abigail Trent it was the beginning of a great adventure. Riding west in her father's covered wagon, she felt strong and free as she set out for the unknown frontier. But from the moment she met rugged Cheyenne scout Zeke Monroe, she felt something else: an irresistible, undeniable love. Raised by his white father in Tennessee, Zeke wouldn't rest until he found his Indian mother---and his destiny. Now a determined young woman was ready to ride by his side across a harsh and savage wilderness, soar with him on the wings of desire, and join two warring cultures with one passionate heart---in Book #1 of the spellbinding Savage Destiny series.
This was a wonderful story. Very sad in some parts so make sure you have kleenex and very sweet and romantic and passionate in others. Highly reccommended!

I read this seven book series in order. By the end of the series I was dreaming about the characters. It is a powerful story of the love between a white woman and a part Indian man.
This series should be read in order. This story was an emotional roller-coaster ride to the very end. The characters were so well drawn that the reader feels part of the background.
Abigail Trent, along with her older sister and younger brother, travel with their widowed father to the Oregon Territory. They are leaving Tennessee because of Mr. Trent's grief over his wife's death; he wants to start over again. Although Abigail is the younger daughter, she keeps the family together because the older daughter is flighty and self-absorbed.
The leader of the wagon train is a half-breed Cheyenne Zeke. He is an incredibly strong character, as is Abbie. There is a significant difference in their ages, which put me off at first. However, with all that Abbie had to endure, she earned the right to be considered a woman.
This is a very powerful story that kept me turning pages late into the night. I can hardly wait to continue the story with Book 2.
Savage Destiny

2. Ride the Free Wind (1984)
3. River of Love (1984)
4. Embrace the Wild Land (1984)
5. Climb the Highest Mountain (1985)
6. Meet the New Dawn (1986)
7. Eagle's Song (1996)
