Although I enjoyed the plot very much, I was disappointed that there was so many modern ideas, attitudes, and phrases in it for a Regency tale. I was annoyed with the hero for most of the story, so I couldn't really connect with him. And others were just outright unsavory or immature. I wanted to really like Sweet Surrender, hoping that Holt went back to writing lushly sensual stories like in her earlier books, but I was mostly torn between indifference and frustration with this one. 2.5 stars.
