Kat is definitely my favorite romance writer and I loved this book tremendously. At times it was hard to read, because of some of the tragedies these 2 face, but their love is deep enough to pull them through. I found the story very compelling, the characters wonderful, and the depth of the emotions rich and rewarding. I had read Devil's Prize first, so knew of the characters from that, and I'm so glad I finally found this one to find out how their story came about. Kat always writes in such a way that I absorb the characters into my life while I am reading the book and for days after.

So far of all Kat Martin's books this is my favorite. I have read it multiple times and each time I get teary-eyed at the same time. The first I read the book could not put it down and finished in about four hours.
Regency romance between a rich nobleman, Rayne Garrick, Earl of Stoneleigh, & an impoverished gentlewoman, Jocelyn Asbury, who has survived as a street urchin. She tries to kill him, but he sets her up as his mistress. When he is seriously shot, he thinks its her. She is transported to Jamaica; he follows. They realize they really do love each other, but have serious problems with trust. How they resolve these issues is the crux of the story.

This is one of the older Kat Martin books, but it's one of the best as far as I'm concerned. A terrific story with appealing characters. A very enjoyable read.
