This is a follow up to "The Beach House." Toy Sooner, after the death of the woman who took her in and taught her all about sea turtles, remains on the Isle of Palms with her young daughter where she begins a new career and a new relationship. While I liked this story, I found it dragging on at times and didn't think it was as good as The Beach House. Still, if you are a Mary Alice Monroe fan, then you will probably like this book as well.
This is a sequel to The Beach House. A must read !
If you read Beach House this is the next read. But you don't have to read them in order. This is a darling read, about Turtle lady, Toy Sooner and the challenges she has faced. She is the single mother who left an abusive relationship, to raise her young daughter. She has found meaning working at an aquarium, but she is not sure she is ready for the challenges of starting a new turtle hospital, or a new relationship with her boss. As the summer progresses and the turtles take their steps towards healing ans freedom, Toy must find her own strength. Excellent book.
I enjoyed this book----------------Of coarse I like all of Mary Alice Monroe's books
This is a continuing story from the first book, "The Beach House"....and it flows beautifully as the characters face loss, hard decisions, and coming to terms with the past. The ongoing story about the sea turtles is facinating and beautiful.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. The low country neighbors are the type I knew growing up. The author made me want to move to the seashore to live their way of life.
