JP Beaumont has long been my favorite JA Jance character. He's very human in that he's flawed, as we all are. He's a Seattle PD detective, very good in his job, while being personally wealthy. His personal life, at times, can be described as a train wreck.
Ms. Jance has always done very well weaving JP's career and personal lives together in the Beaumont series novels.
In this installment he deals with trying to solve a couple of murders while dealing with a beautiful singer and characters in a touring company. Beau deals with a number of twists in the main story, including the DEA, informants and those who appear to be the obvious suspects.
The novel takes several different turns which keep the reader entertained while Beau gets to the truth.
The novel is not overly long and Jance's writing is to the point. She's not an author who tends to repeat herself. She stays on point. It's a good read, without fluff, though I'm still a little mystified by the title.
