This takes place in New Orleans...Full of voodoo, witchcraft and haunted homes. Regan is divorcing her overbearing husband, buying a haunted mansion and she meets up with Felix, a voodoo priest. While she's falling in love with him and the romance begins to sizzle, little does she know that Felix is over a hundred years old and that he is enslaved to her ex-husband,a demon who is even older than Felix.
It's a love triangle with a twist. The characters are very interesting (including Regan's gay friend) and it's not easy to tell what's going to happen next. It was hard for me to put it down!!

I put off reading this book because although I wanted to read it, I was also nervous it would be like the second in the series...mediocre. I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than I expected. I loved the first one in the series, but this one was far better. The characters captivated me - I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. Good plot and great twists!

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure I would like it because it was so similar to the first book, "My Immortal." But I did get into the characters and eventually couldn't wait to finish the book.
I have to confessed that every time I read about Felix, all I could think of was Dr. Facilier from "Princess and the Frog." I think it was the way McCarthy describes his movements. This book was a combination of voodoo, demons, and ghosts which kept it interesting. I like it that all the characters are open to the paranormal and we didn't really have to spend pages where Regan has to convince people she isn't crazy.
Like the other books, it's linked to a story in the past where the future immortal (Felix) has to redeem himself. Th story to the past is told through dreams and a diary. The ways they defeat the demon, though clever, was somewhat anti-climatic. But overall it was an enjoyable book. F
or someone who has read McCarthy's other books but not this series, it isn't as easy going as her other books. It's a bit darker and not so humorous but still a good read.
