Folks who have ever had difficulty getting remodeling done by your contractor will find empathy from Beatrix in this tale. She is in the middle of re-doing Castle Cottage, and finding out why this is happening is part of the mystery. All the old friends, human and animal, are back and up to their old tricks again. The animals must try to find a way to rid the village of an influx of large rats who are slowly stealing all sorts of things from the villagers. But they are a pretty ferocious lot. Reading this book you feel like you're sitting in a comfy chair with a steaming cup of tea or cocoa by your side. Excellent.
