Third in the Beatrix Potter series by this author. Continued characters and realistic picture of life in the Lake Country.

I had my doubts about the premise of this book - Beatrix Potter as a detective and talking animals but I was pleasantly surprised by how well written this book is. Susan Witting Albert has worked hard to make sure the plot has a pleasing blend of fantasy and reality. And it has the flavor of a Beatrix Potter tale.

I have not read anything written by this author that I didn't like. And I've read her China Bayles series, her historical series, and the preceeding books in this, The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter series. This one does not dissapoint. We again get to visit the English villages of Near and Far Sawry, meet again the villagers and well-known animals with of course a few more of each added. A lively tale with several plot lines woven throughout the book. A 10!!!
