This was a great series within the series, and this was a great book. It's the finaly part in the Heritage of Shannara. Everything comes together well in this story. The pacing was perfect and the story well-crafted. Terry Brooks proves again that he is a master of modern fantasy.

Drawing together the threads of the three previous series titles, Brooks orchestrates an exciting, though predictable, conclusion to his second Shannara series. Brooks's appeal lies in his fidelity to tried-and-true quest fantasy and his ability to create engaging protagonists.

While I am a fan of many of the books in this series I did not like this one very much. The stories are very disjointed and would have been better served if they had been split up in to there own books. If your reading the series then read this book to help flesh out some of the characters but dont read this book as a stand alone story.
