The only reason I gave this book a star was because the author convinced a publisher to print this frothy nothing. Reading the previous novel of this trilogy would be of doubtful value. The characters are over-sexed and vapid.
At the beginning, a mystery (of a sort) was alluded to regarding Padua Belvoir's father. He is in Newgate on the charge of counterfeit. Powerful people want Mr. Belvoir kept in prison because 'he can reel in bigger fish' (in the criminal world). Unfortunately for him, Mr. Belvoir is a scholarly mathematician who rarely inhabits the world around him. That is the last of the 'mystery' until late in the book.
The rest of the tale is the insipid philandering of a semi-innocent Padua and the lawyer who is supposed to prosecute Mr. Belvoir. There's one bedroom scene after another separated by very little plot.
LuLu Russell read this tripe. I can't decide is her rendering was so brilliant that I couldn't miss how awful this book was OR that it was such an awful reading that it sunk the story faster.
Wicked Trilogy
1. His Wicked Reputation (2015)
2. Tall, Dark and Wicked (2015)
3. The Wicked Duke (2016)
