Daughtie Winfield is a Shaker, raised to believe that equality should come for everyone in the world and not just a chosen few. She is surprised when her beliefs cause hostility in her work environment and danger to those around her. This book is # 3 in the "Bells of Lowell" series, and is considered a Christian romance. I enjoyed the historical aspect of the book very much, and would encourage those who enjoy a good historical novel to read it, even if you don't like romance novels.
