Although I am a lifelong student of history, I find most historical books to be quite dry reading even though the topics are fascinating. This story, however, does not fall into that category.

Beginning much like a spy novel, "Target: Patton" evolves into a detective story with many twists, turns, and theories. It is the evidence, or mysterious absence of evidence presented from recently declassified U.S., Soviet, German and British records that reveal not only the curious circumstances of Patton's death but also the clandestine maneuverings of political entities in and outside of U.S. government at a critical phase in world history.

In many ways, this is a very scary book when looking at the missteps and the events that almost happened within the U.S. government during and after WWII.
