MML just cannot write anything that I do not like and devour in one to three sittings. The Crimson City series is an unusual one - set in an alternate Los Angeles where vampires, werewolves, and humans barely co-exist - each book is written by a different author, based in a world created by Liz Maverick in the first book in the series.
The species do not mix well and each is suspicious of the others. Where other authors explored mostly human-vampire relationships, MML pairs a vampire and a werewolf in an exciting and passionate murder mystery in which they are trying to prevent an inter-species war. A bit like the movie, Underworld Evolution [2], but better.

I believe this one is the strongest book in the series, at least among the ones I've read so far. The vampire-werewolf starcrossed lovers thing has been done before, but never this well. The character's struggles with race relations and the perceptions of those around them really ring true, and I felt the emotional plotting within this book was great. The action part of the story was solid, but what really makes this one stand out for me was the relationships. Excellent book, highly recommended for fans of the series.

tales of vamps and werewolves with love twists/not too graphic on either the sex or violence.Easy to read and not too taxing on your brain.

I realized about 20 pages in that this book is #2 in a series. After I shook off the confusion, I began to fall into the story which is a very kick-butt, action driven paranormal world ALA Buffy the Vampire Slayer except this time the slayer is male and a vampire to boot. He's called "The Punisher" cuz that's pretty much what he does. Punish the wayward vamps, kills 'em when necessary too. Though werewolves and vampires despise each other in this altiverse they must form a tentative agreement in order to avoid extinction. Keeli is a werewolf and reluctantly joins forces with Michael. She's dismayed and horrified once she realizes she's also attracted to him. This book captured my attention from beginning to end even though I didn't read book 1 in the series (though now I want to!)

#2 A Taste of Crimson - Marjorie M. Liu
#3 Through a Crimson Veil - Patti O'Shea

#5 Seduced by Crimson - Jade Lee
#6 Crimson Rogue - Liz Maverick
#7 Shards of Crimson (anthology) - Liz Maverick, Patti O'Shea, Carolyn Jewel, Jade Lee
#8 Crimson & Steam - Liz Maverick
I've read through the sixth book, I give them all somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Not bad, not the greatest thing I've ever read.

Well-written, fast paced with an exciting plot. I wouldn't mind living in Crimson City
After reading all the great reviews, I was really disappointed by this book. Read the 1st 3 chapters then gave up on it.
A great series! This one is about Keelie and the warewolves that she will someday lead! The action is non stop and it keeps you wondering what will happen in Crimson City next!
This book kept me on the edge from beginning to the end. I was shocked at how graphic and detailed the author was able to be.
This book is well written by a young author. Includes werewolves & vampires great writing.

Very good series
I was thoroughly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The characters are very well developed, the plot moves along at a decent pace, and there's a few interesting twists and turns. My complaints are that there are unnecessary segments that slowed the story down in just a few spots, and some of the plot twists seemed a bit convenient or forced (though not to the point of distraction). The author did very well with two cultures which are well thought out. I highly recommend this to fans of werewolf and vampire romance fiction.

Good book if you appreciate it when authors write that the female lead (realistically) doesn't escape unscathed from fights.
This book was very good and I couldn't put it down!

pretty good story-is going to be a series. I got the second book-not as good as the first-but different authors write for this series. So the characters are not the same-It is just based on city of Crimson. Once I get the third book I will see how this series is moving along.
Set in a gritty, futuristic Los Angeles inhabited by werewolves, vampires, demons and fearful humans, this follow-up to Liz Maverick's Crimson City, the first book in Love Spell's Crimson City series, delivers a high-tension plot and protagonists so appealing that you might be tempted to invite them over for dinner-despite one being a werewolf and the other a vampire. There's no love lost between the hardscrabbling werewolves and the haughty, affluent vampires, but the two factions soon find themselves joining forces to stave off a possible human attack. All could be derailed, however, by a murderer, apparently a werewolf, who has taken to eating vampires. It's up to Michael, an outcast vampire who metes out justice among his own kind, and Keeli Maddox, the granddaughter of a powerful werewolf clan leader, to keep the peace, but their unexpected attraction may undermine everything.
Los Angeles is not longer the City of Angels; dark things haunt the streets--dark, restless things. Bodies have been found, and the tentative peace between humans, vampires and werewolves teeters on the brink of collapse. Keeli Maddox needs to know why. If she and her kin are to survive, she must trust a man as different from her as night from day, as tooth from claw. He's a slayer, a betrayer, an enemy. But nobility lurks in dark places, and Keeli herself is no stranger to shadow. As sure as the moon will rise, Michael was meant for her. Life is about to change. Only three things will remain: the color of blood, the hot joy of skin on skin, and the danger in a taste of crimson.
This was much better than the first in the series
One of the Crimson City series well worth the read.
