Elizabeth Hoyt has move fast up the list to one of my favorite writers. I hate those Historial romances that are sappy and the story line always the same. Man gets the woman he wants and the pg13 sex scene. Not with Elizabeth her historial romances have the twist of a mystery with in them. Oh and sex scenes are on the verge of being X rated, so if you don't want the details don't read the book. If you do read it be prepared to have a hard time putting it down.
Waiting for the next book coming out in Nov.

Historical Romance writer Elizabeth Hoyt brings us the first in a new series, The Legend of the Four Soldiers. Filled with glimpses of a captivating fairytale, and the emotional rollercoaster of a budding romance, this one is sure to not disappoint.

As legend depicts, one day as four soldiers were walking their way home from war, they came upon a T in the road. They pondered which path to follow, but each thought their fate lay in different paths. One soldier strayed from the path and ran into the forest. His name is Iron Heart and this is his story.

Lady Emeline Gordon is a widow who chaperones young girls in the ton, teaching them proper etiquette and propriety in London for pin money. Her young son Daniel, and her aging aunt live with her. Her life seems to be going along splendidly well, until one day the new neighbors move in.

Samuel Hartley is a handsome, wealthy American and a former soldier. His uncivilized ways unnerve Emeline. She just knows he does things to irritate her, like wear his moccassins to a very high society ball. He has moved back to London after a long absence because he believes his regiment was betrayed. He is determined to find the culprit and see justice served.

Bringing his younger sister to live with him serves as an easy excuse to get closer to the intriguing, beautiful Lady Emeline. Proposing to hire her to chaperone his young sister, he is soon enlisting her help with his investigation. Lady Emeline's brother had served with Samuel and had died. She believes that by helping him, it brings her closer to her brother.

As the investigation brings them closer to the identity of the betrayer, the sparks heat up between Emeline and Samuel. Will she be able to hurdle over the obstacle of his barbaric ways to let him come closer? Or will society harden her heart against him? Can Samuel overcome his guilt of letting his regiment down so he can be truly free to love?

The background of the era is well-painted. The characters are well-developed and emotions run high. The plot is well-twisted, and the pages flow with magic. Although I didn't really come to love the heroine, the secondary characters were vibrant and full of life. I will definately be picking up the next in this new series. Who can resist a man in uniform?

I very much enjoyed the Princes trilogy from Elizabeth Hoyt and was excited to start this new series. First of four, this book starts off very slow. I don't know if it is from the need to establish the basis for the series or what, but I was feeling a bit disappointed. Fortunately the story picks up in the second half and ends strong. It nicely sets up the hero for the next book and gets you interested in reading more. I really like this author's mature heroines and atypical heroes.

I liked the idea behind this book, but I don't think it was executed well. I really liked Sam; he was a well-rounded character and I thought the author did a great job letting the reader know his motivations and what made him tick. Emeline, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. There was nothing special about her. She was a typical society lady that cared too much about what others thought of her. I never felt the connection between her and Sam, though I thought the love scenes were steamy.

I didn't care for the plot either. It seemed to be a set-up for subsequent books, but it didn't seem to serve a real purpose to me. By the end of the novel, I didn't care who the traitor was nor did I feel that Emeline was deserving of Sam's time or affection. I'm uncertain if I'm going to read the next one in this series.

This was my second Elizabeth Hoyt book. Though it didnt have the magic that The Raven Prince did, I still enjoyed this book. What didnt work was that the story moved slow in the first half of the book, it probably just suffered from Quadraitis. You know, the first book in a series of four- Author must set up all characters and plots and it drags a bit. What does work with this story, and what I am loving about Elizabeth Hoyt, is the emotions she provokes from you through her storytelling. Its rich, witty, sensual and boy are those moments steamy! This book is #1 in her Legend of the Four Soldiers Series. The next book, To Seduce a Sinner comes out in October and the last two will come out next year. I love Elizabeth Hoyts writing, shes definitely and auto-buy and highly recommend her mac and cheese books.

I picked this book on a whim because I liked what I read in the synopsis and i was not disappointed in my choice. I realize that as the first book in a series that the loose ends dealing with the betrayal of the soldiers could not be dealt with until the last book or there would be no connecting link. I liked the interactions with each of the main characters with the secondary characters some of whom become the h/h of the next books. In fact I found the next books in the series and was pleased with them.

This book took some time for me to really get into it (that's why a 3 instead of a 4). I didn't really like Emeline at first. As the book progressed, I had moments where I thought I "got" her and others where I still just didn't like her. Having finished the book, I'm still not sure if I like or dislike her. However, I liked Samuel. I liked the depiction of PTSD, the flashbacks are realistic. Looking forward to Jasper's story.

This is the first book, I have read by Elizabeth Hoty, and I really enjoyed. It had a good story line. I liked the struggle between the 2 main characters, Samuel and Emeline. He is an american and doesn't have a title that she is use to by english standards.

This was my first Elizabeth Hoyt book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've already ordered the rest in the series as well as some of her other books. She is definitely on the verge of becoming one of my fave historical romance authors.
