It always amazes me with McKenna's writing. Sometimes it seems like a whole different person is writing her books. I like some of her stuff and absolutely hate others. It's like that with these three stories. I hated one, loved another, and one was okay. I love the mystery item they have to find and the clues they have (even though they were easy clues to figure out). I even like the bad guy John with his sick, twisted thoughts. Things I dislike in general were phrases that were used again and again by different characters. I think most main characters should be separate entities of each other and not use the same phrases, especially uncommon ones.
My favorite of the three story was Nell and Duncan's story (the middle one). Great characters, interesting, and mysterious. The chemistry between Nell and Duncan was great with awesome dialogue, good side characters. I just dug into the story and never wanted to end. I wanted to know what happen to the side characters and wanted to hear about Nell and Duncan getting old together. Great representation of the type of stuff McKenna writes that I adore.
The last story, Viv and Jack was okay. Jack's character floundered a bit in the beginning and had some inconsistencies. It almost seemed like it took a little while for McKenna to decide who Jack was. There is decent dialogue but nowhere as much fun as Nell/Duncun's. The end came upon it a little fast. It was too neatly done that Jack was a flower nut (which they needed to decipher the code) and an ex-military (since we also need him to defend). Viv was fun and incredibly sweet.
The story I absolutely hated an felt like it was a waste of time was Nancy and Liam's story. I kind of liked Liam but Nancy really deserves to be slapped. She was so dumb and didn't take her safety seriously, even after all the threats. (Nice to know that wasn't the case with the other two stories). She had a huge chip on her shoulder and snapped at Liam for no reason. Liam and Nancy had zero chemistry. It seemed whenever they talked it would turn into an annoying fight. Not the sexy type of fighting but really just frustrating and aggravating. The only time they seem to really connect is sexually. I really can't see them being happily ever after. The story was such a negative drain of energy. Skip it if you can, you'll still be able to catch up with the other stories. Things I did like about this one was that McKenna did a really good job introducing the mystery and the three sisters.
Overall it was a decent read. Not a keeper but intriguing nevertheless.

Three stories, one common threat, all the characters intermingle in the three stories. I loved the concept! McKenna is brilliant. I'm not sure I can pick which sister I liked best or which of their super hot male counterparts I would invite home with me. Each sister was completely different and special as was their man. I want more!!!! If you are a McKenna fan and can handle raw verbiage and content...delve in. If you are trying her out for the first time...hold on to your pants.
