This is a gripping book about horrible child abuse suffered at the hands of one childs caregivers. Kathy was born to an abusive father and then shipped off to a school that educated its charges in the ways of suffering and sexual abuse. After Kathy tries to tell the nuns about the things the priest does to little girls, she is again sent away, this time to an asylum. There, she suffers more abuses and eventually is sent into slavery at a laundry.
Kathys ordeal - from start to finish - is a horrific account of the indecencies, neglect, and trauma that too many children had to endure as they struggled to survive in Ireland and their fight for justice still continues to this day.

This is one of the most riveting and compelling books on child abuse I've ever read. Kathy's account of her childhood is horrifying and heartbreaking. Incredible that things like this can happen.

A very painful read given everything Kathy has gone through.
