I loved the concept, I loved the pictures the author painted and I liked the dialogue. The "stream of conscious" thought process in which the book was written helps bring to light the 29 year old character. I will admit... it did make me tear up a little at the end. I was hoping for something a little more uplifting! :) But other than that I recommend it.

A sweet read with a dark subject - death and the afterlife. Stepping back and taking a look at the book and the subject matter, I realized that this was a cute way to approach the subject of does your life matter and what are you doing to better the world around you. In a twisted way, I was inspired to evaluate where I spend my time, money and emotions - do they help those around me or am I wasting it all away?

Before I dive into a deep though provoking, off topic tangent - the book. A girl just my age is walking her pup and is hit by a car and they both die - tragic, but she ends up in heaven and what a heaven it is! She is surrounded by all the things she wished and coveted while on earth plus more. BUT she has to write an essay about her ten best days and prove that she deserves to stay where she is. This is where the meat of the story unravels and you learn about her from her childhood to the day she dies.

I absolutely adored the way the story was told. I loved learning about her life through her account of her best days and the stories that evolved. I think women should pack this in their beach bags and take a few hours to soak up the sun and read this one this summer.

I absolutely loved this book and finished it in 2 days. It's the story of Alex Dornenfeld, a 29-year old woman who has been treated pretty much as a "princess" her entire life. She is an only child of very wealthy parents and has never had to work for anything.

While she is living out in L.A., trying to make it on her own without any help, she and her dog Peaches are hit by a car, die, and both go to Heaven (which sounds pretty amazing!). Only glitch is since she really hasn't done much with her life, she has to prove why she deserves to stay in the part of heaven (7th level) she arrives at.

It's very touching - I can honestly say I had to wipe tears from my eyes a few times.

I am definitely going to read Adena Halpern's other books.

For the most part I felt this book was a cross between a shopaholic book and the five people you meet in heaven. It was a cute story. The idea of the planes of heaven and the wonderful reception is great. But it was very "fluffy" too fluffy in my opinion. There was one incredibly touching part when the main character in heaven "adopts" a child who arrived in heaven as a young child. As a mother who has lost a young child it was a touching thought and brought tears to my eyes. Without that touching paragraph I couldn't have rated it 3 stars, but because of what felt so loving and "real" I could.
