I am a democrat but loved it anyway. I felt the author was honest & captured the nuances of Washington while telling the fascinating story. This is the only honest telling of 9/11 from within the white house that I have read. Although I don't agree with her politics, I developed a deep admiration & respect for this intelligent & powerful lady who puts her family first.
This was a very insightful look into one of the highest positions in the US Government. Karen Hughes is a smart woman, and was one of the closest advisors to George W Bush during his time at the White House, and before. If you don't like "Dubya", you won't like this book. Karen Hughes clearly admires the man and there isn't a harsh word about him or his administration. I enjoyed this book as it made the George W Bush seem even more real and personable than I'd already gathered from other things I've read or heard about him.

This is much more than a review of Karen Hughes' work in the White House...she covers the struggles all working mothers face when they are juggling family and career. Lots of great stories of her responsibilities as a writer for President Bush as well as an inside look at what it's like to be on a first name basis with our country's top leaders. Loved this.
Good listen
