I picked this book up at my local library where they were giving away free copies. It looked intriguing and my style since it was a historical setting. The characters in this book are fascinating. The way this story was written has you seeing threads from the past mixed in with the present...it was brilliant!
I totally recommend this book...it's technically junior literature, but I think adults would enjoy it too. I sure did!

A book for older children, set during the Depression on a former plantation in Louisiana, on the banks of the Mississippi. The blurb says, "a heartbreakingly evocative story, steeped in Southern lore, about one girl's struggle to come to terms with her family's dark past." Very well written, but not one I plan to reread.
