The story is exciting with a very current topic of hoarding. I have to admit until I read this book I never thought about someone hoarding pets and it really opened my eyes.
This series is really packs more of a one-two punch, they stories are fun and entertaining but they also make us aware of a huge over population of pets in the United States. I almost feel we should have a Bob Barker moment to remind ourselves "to have your pets spayed or neutered". I also feel that adopting and giving pets "forever homes" is an uplifting experience. We have 3 rescued kitties under our roof. If you are looking for a pet to love, start out at a shelter and save a life that will love you unconditionally immediately.
Like cozy mysteries, like animals, you will love this book! Your invisible tails will be wagging with delight!!!!

This is the second book in the new series by Linda O. Johnston. This series is based on Lauren who runs the Hot Rescues Pet Shelter, if your fan of Lindas you have met Lauren in the Kendra Ballantyne Pet Sitter mysteries.
Lauren gets a call from her former mentor. The one person that helped her find direction in her life and taught her about Pet Rescues. Now she is in trouble. She is being accused of being a Hoarder. How can Lauren help a Hoarder? Is it her fault that the mentor became a Hoarder? Lauren will use the skills she learned when she was being accused of murder to try and help her former friend, but should she?
I am not a big fan of Laurens. Her solving skills are lacking. I figured it out as soon as all the characters were introduced. Lauren does not share all the clues with you and her skill for figuring out is lacking. The cops in this book are also lacking skills since they did not figure it out first. It was too easy. Lauren would be better suited for a horror film since she is always playing the stupid victim that walks down the dark alley by herself.
Will I read more in the series? Sure, I just hope they get better. The writer has the skills, she just needs to improve on the lead character and add more spice to her supporting characters.
