Thimble Summer Author:Elizabeth Enright Awarded the John Newbery Medal 1939 for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. This is a story about a young girl growing up on a Wisconsin farm and her experiences after she finds a silver thimble in a dried-up river bed. Lovely illustrations by the author.
1938 Newbery Medal Winner. A nice story for younger elementary school age. It has a lot in it that is unlike today and will make for good discussion within class or family.
