Ellie Simons longs to be thin - and married. But with her single-minded passion for eclairs and clotted cream, her prospects on both counts seem dim. That's why the summons to attend a family reunion at the old ancestral home is about as welcome as a snake bite. How can she show up with her embarrassingly full figure in her humble unmarried state and keep her chins up? Enter Bentley T. Haskell of Eligibility Escorts, a devastatingly attractive writer of smutty novels who also cooks like a dream. With Ben posing as her besotted beau, Ellie feels brave enough to beard her batty relations in their den ...

A fun - and at times funny - and easy read. Recommended for one of those days you don't want to think too hard, yet want to enjoy the characters and a good mystery.

Cozy mystery about an over weight woman who hires a man from an escort service to accompany her to a family reunion. As the weekend leads to sudden death, unexpected romance, and a treasure hunt, the family reunion gives more than she bargained for.

Bridget Jones meets Agatha Christie. Delightful cozy about a young woman who mustlose 60+ pounds in order to gain an unusual inheritance.

A good book of the type. The characters seem stereotypical nowadays, the romance trite and the mystery was predictable but the pacing is good. A nice cozy undemanding read.

SOMEwhat reminiscent of Agatha Raisin, only much nicer!!! "A rich, eccentric uncle; a "castle" complete with moat; and a profusion of quirky relatives all have parts in this amusing story which updates the traditional English country house mystery. Ellie, longing to be thin, and Bentley, escort-for-hire turned partner in an unusual treasure hunt, and other likeable characters are strongly characterized ... "

This book was a little too cozy (read: romance) for me and I almost didn't finish it. I stuck with it to experience the re-hab of the estate but then got drawn into the story and read til the end. Descriptions of the re-hab and gourmet cooking and the strong female characters were a pleasure and I would recommend this series to romance and light mystery readers.

I stumbled upon this book by accident, and I really ended up liking it. I am a sucker for anything set in the UK, but the story was pretty unique so sucked me right in. I couldn't put it down. It's a quite easy read, but very fun and great if you like amateur sleuth mysteries

British cosy mystery with a Rubenesque heroine and her faux fiancee trying to fulfill the terms of eccentric uncle's will. Very slow; couldn't get into it.

Overweight and unmarried, Ellie Simons balks at the prospect of attending her family reunion. But with a hired escort in tow--posing as husband--she summons the courage to go, little realizing that the weekend will lead to unexpected romance, a treasure hunt--and murder.
