Have you ever read a series that leaves you emotionally hung-over afterwards? There have only been a few for me, and this series is one of the top 3. Whew! What a ride. We go from ROFLMAO (with tears) banter between Charley and Cookie, to several near death experiences (with tears) only Charley can get her self into (and out of) on a daily basis, to the emotional extremes of sadness, loss and betrayal. This book has them all. Plus, we get a few new characters introduced (one who seems quite yummy). And in true Darynda Jones fashion, she throws us off the ride scratching our heads wishing we had the next book in our hands because I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT! A complete emotional rollercoaster for me. 3 books into this series, and I can't think of ever putting them down. So without giving away any spoilers, I would tell everyone, give this series a chance. Start at the beginning, you won't regret it.
And I'm still on team Reyes.......

This is the third book in a terrific series! If you haven't read the series I highly recommend it. I thought at first I wasn't going to like the third installment but I did and can hardly wait for book four.
This has it all: A kick a$$ heroine, paranormal, laugh-out loud humor and a hot, hot, hot guy! Reyes Farrow rocks. Lots of quirky characters that bring the book to life. You just like them all. Darynda Jones YOU are a winner!

I very rarely give a book 5 stars, but these books just get better and better with each installment of this series. I love this author's voice, and the character of Charley is so funny and sarcastic that I was literally laughing out loud for almost the entire book. Then the story will switch gears and have you tearing up and/or biting your nails to see what happens next.
The development of the characters and the tension between them continues, and Charley's way of relating to her friends is just absolutely priceless. I am just dying to learn more about what her special abilities are.
Be warned... this book has yet another cliffhanger ending. I really hate having to wait until November for the next book to come out. "Don't care how, I want it now!" I hope this series will continue to deliver, and that it will be around for a long time. Bravo, Ms. Jones!

Days of no sleep for Charley because her fiery hot lover I'd passed as hell at her. Her daddy wants her to quit being a P.I. to find something less life threatening. New case came through about a missing wife of a guilty doctor with skeletons in his closest. Not to mention Reyes escaped and has Charley, threatening her and her family just to get Charley to do his bidding. What more can go wrong for Charley and her gang of misfits. But now let's add on more torture, sexy bad ass bikers and a loveable dog named Artemis.

Surviving on gallons of coffee, Charley Davidson hasn't slept for two weeks. Every time she falls asleep, she gets a passionate visit from Reyes Farrow, the son of Satan who she bound to his corporeal body. It's getting harder and harder to stay awake while trying to find a doctor's missing wife. Now Charley has received a message from Reyes. He wants her to help find his father, the one he has spent 10 years in prison for killing. It seems Earl Walker isn't really dead and Charley is Reyes' only hope.
This was a busy book. Some parts I liked, other parts I didn't. Charley is a fun character, but she sometimes does really dumb things and I have to roll my eyes. Reyes is smart and sexy, but I'm still not sold on him as hero material. Cookie, Garrett, Uncle Bob and Angel are helping Charley with her cases. The addition of a motorcycle gang and their pet Rottweiler helps to round out the fun. I have to say at one point near the end, I was so mad about something that happened I actually threw the book. Thankfully, the author fixed everything at the end. My rating: 4 Stars.

Charley gets wilder with each book. Reyes is majorly pissed that she bound him and is exactly his revenge when she sleeps. Her solution is to not sleep. From this comes some of the funniest scenes so far in the series. A case involving a missing person lands her in close contact with a motorcycle gang and her personal quest for Reyes' father places her in danger. A must read!

This was the best one so far. I laughed, I cried, and more importantly I was surprised more than once. There was a few pages towards the end that I had to skip over; just too violant for me, but absolutely 5 stars from me, and I can't wait until the next one. Jones just keeps getting better.

In this one, Charley furthers her relationship with her sister Gemma, while her relationship with her father deteriorates. She handles a missing person case; the missing spouse is the wife of a prominent doctor whose first wife died under strange circumstances. There is also a history of a threat he made involving the college girlfriend. And then there is Reyes. Charley's relationship with Reyes is all consuming and she can't focus when he is around. When she sleeps, he also visits her in her dreams. As a result, she exists on coffee to stay awake.
The things I thought were cute, funny, Charley's personality traits, or things I was just indifferent to in the first couple of books, I found annoying in this one. I got so pissed when she started to fall asleep while driving and joked that "car horns should be illegal." The snark, the humor is all here. Her abilities are still interesting and she can do more (but I don't know what "more" means); she is learning. I do like her less now.
I think my issue also stems with Reyes. He is a character that has done nice and shitty things. I'm not sure how I feel about him. I find that while I don't particularly like him, I don't dislike him either.
Things come to like regarding his "father" who may still be alive and Reyes may be getting out of prison (officially).
I find myself not exactly enthusiastic about the two main characters. I might read one more to see if my feelings change. I do like the secondary characters; Cookie, Uncle Bob, Gemma, Garrett, possibly Sister Mary Elizabeth & Donovan from the motorcycle club.

I stumbled onto this series and so glad I did! I fell hard and can't wait for the 4th installment. The characters, the dynamics, and the other wordly sex leave me wanting more.

This is the third book in the Charley Davidson series. Each book of this series gets better and better; Jones is doing so much right with this urban fantasy series. Right now there are ten books in this series with the eleventh book, Eleventh Grave in Moonlight, expected to release in Jan 2017.
I have been listening to this book on audiobook and the narrator does an awesome job on narrating this series. Lorelei King IS Charley, she sounds exactly like I imagine Charley would and does an wonderful job with other characters' voices and with conveying emotion. If you like to listen to audiobooks I would highly recommend listening to this series on audiobook.
A lot happens in this book. Charley and Reyes are on the outs but somehow every time Charley falls asleep Reyes is there angry and yet...wanting. To solve this issue Charley has decided not to sleep...at all...for weeks at a time. Things get more complicated when Charley starts working on a missing person's case and Reyes escapes from prison.
These books are written in a way that is witty and funny (sometimes a bit over-the-top eye-rolling funny...but in a good way). I love Charley and her quirky way of misinterpreting what people say...that and her extremely humorous view on death in general. Reyes is amazing and frustrating and dangerous all at once and I am glad we got to see more of him in this book than we did in the last book.
Again in this book Charley figures out a little bit more about her awesome Grim Reaper powers. I also loved that she gets a Guardian as well (and no it's not who you think it might be).
There are so many things that Jones is doing right in this series. I love the mystery, the action, the humor, the characters, the teasing, and growth Charley goes through. The way she handles Charley being the Grim Reaper is extremely cool as well. I just can't wait to see where this series is going.
Overall this was an amazing continuation of this series. The book is incredibly engaging and hard to stop reading. I love the characters, the mystery, and the action. The humor is incredibly refreshing and fun; Charley is so quirky and weird that you just have to love her. I would recommend to those who enjoy UF/PNR that is on the lighter side. This series reminds a bit of Molly Harper's Jane Jameson series.
