Alice Walker's moving tale of a black tenant farmer's painful growth to dignified manhood and the three generations of his family that accompanied him through his journey.
Interesting perspective on a black tenant farmer's life. By the author of The Color Purple
American Scholar Alice Walker is a vastly gifted, almost preternaturally perceptive novelist.
good read, but I enjoyed The color purple much better
This is a very well written book. It's one of Alice Walker's earliest and better works. If you like Alice Walker, I would recommend this book.
