This book is actually a re-release of Christopher Pike's "The Last Vampire" teen series from the mid-nineties. This book includes the first three (of six) books in that series. They were relaxing quick and easy reads, which I enjoyed. Sita (or Alisa, as is her modern name) is a 5,000 year old vampire and the story is told from her point of view. I thought each story became progressively more interesting and enjoyable, as Pike weaves flashbacks of Sita's past into it along with some twists and turns. As are a lot of vampires, Sita is not a monster. I do think Sita seemed to kill unnessesarily at times, which bothered me, although the killing isn't very graphic. Pike seems to write tastefully.
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys vampire stories.

This was one of my favorite series as a teenager. As an adult I still think it's pretty good. I highly recommend these books. Any teen will eat these books up. Sita is my favorite vampire from any vampire books I've read. Read and you will understand. She has no equal.

I am actually re-reading this book in this anthology. I had read them as a teenager in the late 90's and loved them. DO NOT try to compare this vampre book to any Twilight stuff or anything close to that, that is NOT what you will find here at all. Chrisopher Pike was a master of teen horror back in the day and I still have respect for his works. This book is mostly for High School Seniors and above as the stuff that goes on is rather explicit (not the sex, but the killing).
Sita is a 5000 year old vampire, thought to be the last of her kind... That is until she discovers that her creator is on the hunt for her again. She will stop at nothing to stay away from this monster...
This book includes: The Last Vampire, Black Blood and Red Dice.

Dreadful! The main character, Alisa, is unlikeable and unbelievable. I could not connect with her at all, which I partially blame on the writing style. It is downright horrible. It reminds me of junior high english class. The sentences are no longer then 10 words, so they are feel blunt and cut short. It leaves the context feeling empty and choppy, and hard to follow. I realize it's directed at the young adult but I feel there are many other novels out there written far better and are far more enjoyable than this one. I recommend you spend your money, and your time, elsewhere.

Not a fan. Although the writing is clearly for younger readers, I do not think the content is appropriate. The leading lady had two things on her mind: sex and killing. Although the author does not go into a lot of detail in the sex scene, the leading lady uses her "charm" to manipulate and then happily kills whoever gets in her way (everyone). I was disappointed with these books and found the heroine completely unlikeable.

Good series, puts a different twist on vampire books. Lots of fictional history and abstract religion with lots of action & twisting plots.

I admit to having had no experience with Pike's wrwiting until this book, and I admit it took me some time to get through this book. The stories are good, and the way he goes from one to the next flows well, I can't truly say why it took me so long to read this one, much less the 2nd one. It is a different look at vampires and how they are made and such, so I will give him kudos for creativity with an old subject matter.

This was one of the best ! It's about a girl named Sita . Who was once a normal happy girl ,who was turned in to a vampire. At one point she thought she was the last of her kind. All I can tell you is there is so much to tell. There are a couple parts to every book. There are also 4 books in the series.

very interesting story line, i like how every problem she has reminds her of something from her past. therefore showing you a little more of who she is.

Not real impressed with this book. Very slow. Too much talk of Alisa's past & Krishna. Did not really like the characters. Did not even finish the last part of the book.

This book was enjoyable enough but at times the way it was written I felt like I was reading someones diary. I understand that the she is 5000 years old and speaks proper english but the way it written kind of irritated me after a while. Other than that I thought it had good story line. I think every woman would love to have her strength (not just physically) and her confidence.

I borrowed this from a friend since I had a shortage of books to read. The plot grabbed me instantly but it quickly fizzled out for me. I felt so sorry for Sita. I mean can't this girl catch a break! It quit reading After her second love interest in the present time got killed. I finally picked it back up and finished it. It was okay and since my friend has the second book I'm willing to give it another chance.

I found it kind of hard to get through the first book, once I started to get interested in it the author went and changed it. I never even finished the second book in this omnibus. Don't think I will be picking up another christopher pike book any time soon

Not a fan... the character is way too self involved, and I cringe every time I read a sentence about how wonderful, attractive, desirable she is. I couldn't even make it through the first "story" of this book. Dreadful.

This was one of my favorite vampire "trilogies" (Book 4 coming out soon). I've read all three of the twice. Christopher Pike s a great writer. Actually, I wanted more when the book was finished.
Stefanie U. reviewed Thirst, No 1: The Last Vampire / Black Blood / Red Dice (Last Vampire, Bks 1-3) on
I don't really like this book. I am a couple hundred pages in and right now I'm only finishing it because I don't want to feel like I am wasting my money though I do feel like I am wasting my time. I was not engaged in this book at all. It felt a little one dimensional and I felt NO connection to any of the characters. Yeah this book was not my favorite vampire book. Some better ones were the Twilight Saga, Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, House of Night series, Vampire Academy series, and if you are just looking for some paranormal fiction, The Mortal Instruments series is a very good one. My advice if you are considering reading this book: don't waste your time.
